With the announcement of the extension of the Greater Sydney COVID-19 Lockdown until August 28th, and its impacts on past and future face to face Workshops and Tours, I have made a decision to suspend all bookings on Tours and Workshops until further notice.

Despite the spin and political rhetoric you hear in the news, the State and Federal Governments are not supporting my business. With the loss of many bookings and prospects in the past 12 months in other lockdowns and border shenanigans, on top of recovering from bushfires and flooding events prior to the pandemic establishing itself, and with no certainty or confidence this lockdown will end as planned, or that future bookings may be impacted by further lockdowns, my losses have reached a point that I am unable to maintain this costly business model further.  I will be unable to go back to business until that certainty and confidence is restored which is unlikely to occur for some time to come.

I would like to thank all my past clients who have helped support my Tour Operations in the past 3 years, and I do look forward to a time where we will once again be able to explore the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, and marvel at capturing Australia’s Night sky together again. In the meantime, please stay healthy and safe.

If you have any enquiries at all, or would like to engage me in some online workshops, education or any commercial photography work please contact me at jay@jaydidphoto.com.au

With Thanks

Jay

Testimonials

Sam, Central Coast

Jay’s phenomenal knowledge of the Blue Mountains meant we were able to adapt and go to the locations that would make the most of the conditions at the time. He ensured that we were safe at all times while encouraging us to move outside of our comfort zone to get to places I would never…

Sue, Sydney

What an amazing experience in such a beautiful location with a great bunch of people! I learnt so much in such a short time, not only about shooting and processing star trails, but also about respecting the environment that we were so privileged to be spending time in. Jay’s knowledge and technical expertise of photography…

Lisa, Sydney

Jay was a wonderful host. His patience, knowledge of the landscape, local history and technical aspects of waterfall photography was so impressive. I’d do another of Jay’s courses in a heartbeat.

Neville, Sydney

In October I was fortunate to attend the Star Trails 101 photograph workshop headed Jay Evens a master in Astro Photography. For those photographers that love the open air, adventure, and extending their photographic skills I highly recommend this workshop.

Mustafa, Sydney

The tour was amazing, I had unforgettable experience, learning about long exposure techniques, composition, understanding the surrounding environment and weather and their impacts on taking nice shots, and more.

All in all a great experience. Very well organized and conducted by Jay Evans. My first experience with Astrophotography. I got to learn a lot and walked away with a couple of nice shots.

It was a great three days. Lots of really interesting places to shoot from and Jay had great knowledge of the area.

Ian, Melbourne

Jay is a wonderful guide. Well organised, has vast local knowledge and is an excellent photographer. He was always mindful of our safety and welfare and willing to help make our trip a success.

Jo, Sydney

What a wonderful introduction to learning how to photograph star trails. From the moment I arrived at the studio I felt comfortable and welcomed, this continued throughout the entire workshop. Everything was well organised and prepared from the setup of camp to the actual star trail shooting right through to breakfast. The tutorials on how…
