I’m Jay Evans, a Nature, Landscape and Astro Photographer based in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales.

My work is built on a deep pull toward wild places and the night sky. I chase the moments where rugged landscapes, natural light and celestial wonder come together – from the sandstone escarpments and waterfalls of the Blue Mountains to remote wilderness stretching out under some of the darkest skies in the country. What I’m really after, image by image, is a way to connect people back to nature – to remind them what’s still out there, largely untouched.

That same attention to light and composition carries into my commercial work, where I shoot food and beverage portraiture and architecture – different subjects, but the same instinct for finding the shot that makes people stop and look.

Photography is only half of what I do. I also lead guided tours and workshops in landscape, nightscape and nature photography, helping others build both their technical craft and their eye for the environments they’re shooting in. Teaching keeps me honest about my own process, and there’s nothing quite like watching someone nail their first proper Milky Way shot.

I hold commercial tour operator licenses with NSW National Parks, Northern Territory Parks and Parks Australia, and I’m an accredited Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Tour Guide – so if you’re looking to explore some of Australia’s most iconic (and most protected) landscapes with someone who knows the rules and the light, that’s me.
