Scene Festival is Back for 2026!
Scene Festival returns again for 2026. Throughout September and October, we have a huge number of events lined up. And joining us at any event means being added to the draw to win the ultimate Scene experience to Tokyo & Kyoto, Japan with the Sony team.
What is Scene Festival?
Now in its 4th year, Scene Festival is an opportunity for photographers and filmmakers to join a huge number of events hosted by your Sony Advocates and Ambassadors all across Australia and New Zealand. Packed with community-hosted events, Scene Festival caters to people of all skill levels, in every possible genre.
With over 200 events proposed and 2,000+ attendees expected, it’s going to be a busy two months.
Why join us?
Of course, these events are about our community — bringing you all together to experience different genres of photography and filmmaking, learn about Sony gear, and meet like-minded folks. It’s about capturing imagery and video that matches your interests, or an opportunity to expand your horizons.
Last Year
Last year I ran 10 events, a series of 1:1s, and held a talk at Teds Cameras about capturing World Heritage. I was very fortunate to have one of my events as a winning Advocate to join the Scene Festival competition winners on a trip to Rome, Italy. Sadly, the Middle East conflict led to our itinerary having to change as we could no longer fly through Dubai to get to Rome.
But the whizz team at Sony swished a magic wand, and whisked us off to Queenstown, New Zealand instead 🙂
Lots of events last year with some great images captured by all those attending.

Tips for Joining Events
Remember, to gain an entry into the prize draw you need to attend the event — not just book. So if you’re planning to join us, please help your Advocates and Ambassadors by committing to attend. This helps ensure Sony’s continued support for these events, means we can host more in future, and of course, gets you a shot at that trip to Japan.
- Check the Sony Scene website events page.
- Filter events by Category (for the genre you’re after), Location, Time, and/or Host.
- Find your event. To count toward the Scene Festival prize draw, the event must fall between 1st September and 31st October.
- Book in. Check the listing for full details, then click Book Now once you’re ready to commit.
- Apply any vouchers or discounts you’ve been given — remember, vouchers usually apply only to a specific host’s event, so check the details first.
- Attend, join your community, have lots of fun — and of course, win!

Come and Join Us at the Scene Festival
Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or you’ve been shooting for decades, there’s a Scene Festival event with your name on it. Over the next two months you’ll find sunrise meetups, hands-on editing workshops, astro adventures, and everything in between. And that’s just what I am hosting. All the Advocates and Ambassadors have events for every photographic or filmmaking genre under the sun. And remember we are a group who genuinely want to share what we love about this craft. It’s a rare chance to learn new techniques, get honest hands-on time with the latest Sony gear, and meet a community of photographers and filmmakers who’ll cheer you on long after the festival wraps. And as last year proved, you never quite know where the journey might take you. A Rome itinerary turned into an unforgettable trip to Queenstown, and this year the prize on offer is a trip to Tokyo & Kyoto with the Sony team. So pick an event, commit to attending, bring a friend along if you like, and come be part of it.
