I am still pinching myself that once again, I have

I am still pinching myself that once again, I have found myself at the end of the world, looking across the Beagle Channel above the town of Ushuaia in Tierra Del Fuego, Southern Argentina, and I have to give huge respect and gratitude to @intrepidtravel @chimuadventures and @sonyaustralia @sonyalpha.anz for this special opportunity, my second year spending a month aboard the Ocean Endeavour as we cruise Antarctica.

This year is a very special trip for me, as I get to see the wilds of The Falklands/Malvinas and South Georgia as well as (hopefully*) visiting some of the King Penguins. And I will still get to view the Landscapes, Icebergs, Whales, Seals, Giant Seabirds and Penguins, all while enjoying some amazing photo adventures with a fantastic expedition team, crew and guests.

The wildest continent on earth is such an extraordinary part of the world to visit, and almost inconceivable in its remoteness that it can be accessed for tourism.

Yet its epic landscape, vast waterways and diversity of wildlife leave you with experiences you will never forget. And while you can revere in the history of tales of exploration, discovery and survival of those who have visited before you, you also learn a healthy respect for the science that has developed from over a century of study in this ominously isolated yet encouragingly promising place. While Antarctica contains our frozen past, a history stretching back to the periods of Gondwana land, with science and peaceful endeavors that must continue to help protect our planet into our future.

So before I depart tomorrow, here are a few of last year's memories for you to enjoy, and I hope to be able to post much about this journey as we travel again to the wildest continent on earth.

ANTARCTICA EXPEDITION 2025 : EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
A Year ago today, I got to stand on my seventh continent, Antarctica! The first photo in this set is me stood at Portal Point, on the Antarctic Mainland. And, I am about to head out there again, spending another exciting month aboard the Ocean Endeavour with Intrepid Travel and Chimu Adventures at the bequest of Sony Australia to help with the photography programme on board. Many of my friends know how hard I have been preparing for this one!!

And this is where a fantastic opportunity has come up for you to come and join me as your photography guide on a special expedition in 2025.

Alongside the other Sony Digital Imaging Advocates, I have been invited by Chimu Adventures to host a small group of 5-10 photographers on Chimu's BEST OF ANTARCTICA : WHALE DISCOVERY expedition aboard the Ocean Endeavour for a 12 day expedition in departing 9th March 2025, and there is a fantastic deal on the table.

The cost of the cruise will be A$11,790.00 per person, twin berth, aboard the OCEAN ENDEAVOUR. Departing Ushuaia. This doesn’t include your flights to Ushuaia, Argentina, but does include a 4 star experience aboard.

There's plenty of deck space to enjoy the ocean views and foreboding Antarctic landscape as we cruise on by, and for those dramatic views of icebergs, giant sea birds, and of course, whales fluking all around. And that’s all before the highlight, our zodiac cruises and landings to view the penguin colonies of Gentoos, Adelies and Chinstraps, the Skuers, Blue eyed Shags, and Antarctic Terns, not to mention the Leopard Seals Weddell Seals and Fur Seals. We are expertly navigated through brash ice flows, around icebergs, where we sometimes encounter Orcas, Minkes and Humpback whales. There's even a chance to visit the famous Penguin Post Office at Port Lockroy.

There is so much more to do aboard.

Its not as if this view isn't already awesome to gawk at, but when you see a break in the rain and make a run for the lookout hoping for rainbows, and this is the view you are greeted with….. This was the outcome of the stories I posted over the past few days. Nature just never ceases to amaze me.

A beautiful morning for a @sonyalpha.anz Sunrise Session at Govetts Leap. As the sun rose above the horizon, it hung in the sky behind some diffuse cloud so it could be captured with all the minute detail of the landscape in front. Always a refreshing way to start the day.

That moment when you wake up and can see the colou

That moment when you wake up and can see the colour starting to appear in the clouds. You get dressed faster than you ever have, you grab your camera bag just hoping it's all in there, you quickly microwave yesterday's coffee because caffeine is the most important thing this early, you quickly drive to the local lookout, get setup (everything in the bag!!!), and are rewarded within seconds. Immense colour casting across the sky and the valley views in front of you 🌞. I am normally a lot better planned at sunrises, and admittedly, I don’t get out for many anymore, but this one was well worth the rush 🙂

Last weekend I had the chance to host some fellow shooters for a sunrise at Govetts Leap. Was great to see two of my Antarctica buddies come along and enjoy a starry start with the Musk Sky Train making its way through the pre-dawn sky, but then a beautiful colour cast from a sunburst as it rose above the Grose Valley.
More of these sunrise sessions will be posted on @sonysceneanz very soon. So come and join me sometime soon for an epic sunrise across the sublime valley views in the Blue Mountains.

The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo might be the most common of the Cockatoo family here in Australia, but their populations here in the Blue Mountains are huge. I often see them congregating at the large waterfalls where they will sit in the trees close by chewing the bark from drying eucalypts and hurling it down to the ground below. But while I walked the Federal Pass this week, a whole mob seemed to be stalking me as I travelled the track, they kept flying into the trees behind me watching as I walked, occasionally giving me the "crest" which I always consider their version of the "bird" 😂. Thoughts of Alfred Hitchcock came to mind as I quickened my pace to get back to the safety of the Scenic Railway.
