Come and join Jay for an exciting photography workshop exploring the Wonder of Waterfalls in the Blue Mountains, where you will be guided to the base of some of the best falls in the area and coached on capturing flowing water using long exposure techniques, filters, and composition. To wrap up the day, we will have a post processing session over a takeout dinner back at our Katoomba studio.

This fantastic tour not only gets you in front of some of the Blue Mountains best known falls, you will also be guided through the mesmerising scenery of ferns and eucalyptus trees, down some incredible bush tracks and deep into the gully’s to locate the serene flowing waters as they tumble into the valleys below.

Tour Details

  • Group Size: 1-4 persons
  • Fitness Requirements: You should be of good fitness and mobility to attend this workshop. We will be traversing a number of Blue Mountains National Park bushwalks involving clambering up and down steep staircases and over varied rocky and muddy terrain.

Recommended Camera Equipment

  • DSLR or Mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses and manual controls
  • Wide angle lenses (anything from 10mm-35mm)
  • Medium Prime or Telephoto Lenses (anything from 35mm-150mm)
  • Sturdy Tripod, Head & appropriate plates/mountings for your camera
  • Shutter remote (cable or wireless)
  • Spare batteries and a charger
  • Empty memory cards
  • A small towel to cover your camera

Optional Camera Equipment

  • Laptop pre-loaded with post processing software (we recommend Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop)
  • Filters appropriate for landscape photography (we recommend NiSi filters)
  • Macro lenses for flora, fungi and mosses

Clothing and Accessories

  • Warm layered clothing suitable for bushwalking in the current season (we will send you more details on appropriate in our welcome pack)
  • Waterproof Jacket
  • Sturdy Waterproof Hiking Boots
  • Sunglasses
  • 1L Water Bottle
  • Although not essential, bring rock fishing boots, cleats or non-slip gumboots if you own them

Other Details

  • Accommodation is not included in Single Day workshops and tours. If you wish to arrive the evening before your tour, we can arrange accommodation in one of our AirBnB style rooms with a Queen size bed and 2 King Single Beds available. Costs are $70 per person per night. Contact us for more information.
  • No Meals will be provided, however we will stop for Lunch at a local outlet and buy a takeout dinner to eat while we go through our post processing session.
  • To arrive in Katoomba in time to commence the tour, catch the 05:38 train from Central station to arrive for 07:30. Once in Katoomba, all your transport is provided. You will be dropped off at Katoomba Station in time for the 19:18 train back to Sydney Central Station.

This itinerary is intended as an example based on a Single day booking and may change subject to weather conditions, availability of optional activities, and access conditions. Where changes are required, these and alternative arrangements will be communicated to you when known.

  • 7:30AM – Pickup from Katoomba Railway Station
  • 8AM – Waterfalls Shoot 1 – Wentworth Falls
  • 10:30AM – Waterfalls Shoot 2 – Leura
  • 12:30AM – Lunch
  • 2PM – Waterfalls Shoot 2 – Hazelbrook
  • 5PM – Dinner & Post Processing
  • 7:30PM – Drop off at Katoomba Railway Station
